The Channel 729 is the First Free to Air Terrestrial Indian TV Channel outside India relaying programs in the UAE, Gulf and Middle East Countries launched in June 2003 and has Joint Venture Agreement with Ajman Television, a Government Owned TV channel. It develops in house production and programming, and is an independent content provider.

The Channel penetrated into African Media Markets, having signed a Telecast Agreement with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) and now it is airing its programming on KBC Channel. Additionally, it has signed a Telecast Agreement with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, Uganda & Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC).

On the anvil is a plan to diversify on other network platforms in East and Central African Countries.

The way Forward

Capitalizing on its USP for a Free to Air segment Channel 729 showcased highly successful Indian Soaps with Arabic subtitles thus catering to both the expatriate and local communities. Channel 729 was the First Channel in Middle East to Produce Local Indian Content.

The Soaps confirmed to be aired include Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. The two biggest blockbusters of Indian Television that have attained the highest TRPs ever achieved to date by Television Serials.
